Folks I see threads like this all the time, didn't think I would start one. But you know you folks opinion matters, that's why I hang around .
I am in a delima right now. As some may know I work for a repair center and we work on all types of cars.
Anyway let me get to the point I have a customer here that has owned a 1989 GT conv 5-spd, grey leather, white top. Car has 75k on it. Everything in the car is original. This customer purchased the car brand new, had it special ordered in California. I have developed a good relationship with this customer because we both have foxes. I have actually loaned him mine so we could work on his. The car has benn maintained very well and not driven like a Stang. We have actually pulled the motor out to reseal it from all it's leaks. Which included a new oil pan. The A/C was just recently converted as well. Tires are new.
The bad---- rust has found it. The trunk lid is toast, $147.00. Pss front fender has some rust @ base of antenna. $100-$150 used from this site somewhere. pass seat is torn due to being parked in the sun and it dry-rotted, other wise seats look great. figure another $100 or so.. May need to be painted again due to water stains, may be able to buff though. Both rear window regulators are needed.
I have no pics yet.
Theytold me they wanted me to own the car because I have taken care of them and the car for years. Said they might give it to me for the most $3500.00. May be able to get for $3000.00. Not exactly the right time for money wise for me, but was told they are OK to wait untill next year.
Is this car worth the $$$$ I just keep thinking how hard it is to find a fox in stock form, and I kinda wanted a vert anyway.
Sorry again for this thread.

I wouldnt pay that much for it, well not around here anyway. I can find a 5.0 in the condition you describe for about 2500, up your way it might be different.

Is that because most of them have been "washed" by hurricane Katrina?

I bought my very stock 93 GT about 4 years ago for $3500. I put a new top on it cleaned it up and it is a pretty nice car. I did end up repainting the titanium trim about 2 years ago but other than that it was in pretty good shape. Here is what the car looks like when I bought it

and now

A clean stock vert can be anything you want. Any stock fox for that matter. Look at the plus side, you know just about everything about the car. Clean origninal fox cars are hard to find....I say buy it, clean it up, and drive the heck out of it....Then a couple years from now sell and make some cash...

Yeah, I got mine for 4500, and that was a steal! Not perfect condition...

rear window motor was shorted out, and the upholstery was going (2 years later and I need new seats BADLY!)...but that was about it...and the motor fixed quite easily....

I'd definitely go for it.

No mine has nothing to do with it, I just let the Dr. borrow mine while we worked on his for a day. They just knew how much interest I had in there's and I have been the one helping them with serviceing it that they knew they could have visitation rights if I got it
Mine would stay put, it's not going anywhere. So that means we would have 2. Don't know how the wifey feels about it though im sure she is not for it.
