I have a white saleen with white wheels.. I will wash these rims down and in no matter of time there covered in brake dust...What si the best way I can avoid this.. I wipe them over and they look great but my damn rag is as black as can be..Is there some kind of repellent you can buy? shoud I wax them????

I don't know that you will be able to avoid the brake dust, but throwing some good wax on them won't hurt either. It will make them easier to clean when you do wash them.

yeah i agree. not much you can do to keep brake dust off the rims...but wax definitely helps when cleaning.

I use Klasse all in one on my wheels. It seems to hold up better and stay slicker then wax. I haven't had to use any sort of wheel cleaner since. Just car wash.

they have some new product on the market for that, might look at an auto parts store, or walmart. I just saw an ad for it in the last week. Just don't remember who makes it. What kind of pads do you use, ceramics are suppossed to produce less dust, but my hawk hps, don't produce much, atleast on my chrome wheels.

the best way to fix it is to not have a ford, id probably never buy any other make...but fords are bad for brake dust collecting on the wheels, look at expiditions and f150's and anything ford, the wheels look black all the time, i guess its the pads they use? but they are bad for gettin dirty quick

Wrong that has more to do with people not cleaning them and leaving them dirty. My dads 97 f-150 and 04 f-150 and his previous 00 expedition never had a problem. Why beause he and I took good care of them, my mustang doesn't have brake dust problems either and I replaced the front pad with motorcraft pads.

I don't have any problems either, it must be the pads? I have polished wheels and I never see any dust. Probably because I don't drive it very much also.

I had brake dust probs w/ my white cobra R rims but I now have chrome Steeda rims but I have EBC low brake dust pads on the front. I have not noticed any brake dust on the front rims yet. Although I do wash them alot more then I did the Cobra rims just b/c they look so much better and I dont drive the car all the time like Iwas when the cobra rims were on. I agree w/ WYTSTANG and that you have to keep on top of keeping them clean, that in its self is the the biggest factor in keeping them clean.

Like he said ..I have used this stuff and it works GREAT! very easy and quick to use..only like 3 or 4 bux a can

The best way is to get good brake pads that dont dust alot, but mostly wax your wheels a lot!! I have always waxed my wheels and many years down the road they still look new. Plus you quickly wipe them down and the dust just wipes away without trying to burn onto your wheels. You will be surprised at how easy they will wipe off with a dry towel if waxed. I keep a white T shirt in my trunk, so I can quickly wipe them down at a gas station,etc. I have to replace my T-shirts about every 60-90 days so my uniform stays sharp, and the old ones get washed and enter the car cleaning zone. They are super soft (not like the thick T shirts you wear around but an undershirt) and are good for removing wax, or doing a windex wash after you California Car dust it.

I have white Cobra Rs on my car and I carry a bottle of spray wax and a rag in my back seat at all times. I clean my rims once a day, literally.

I have the same problem with brake dust, arent there some kind of covers you can you can put on the inside? It seems like all the ones I see wont fit though.

Try giving a call to Stillen(Costa Mesa,Ca), and use their metal matrix pads.They have a higher friction coeffiecient and VERY LOW dust.I used to work there and now have then on my 94 GMC and barely get any dust.
