just bought a 1996 stang i have alot of work to do to it but my brakes are really soft like i have to press it all the way to the floor took a look into the reservoir it looks gold tint and really watery im going to end up doing a flush this weekend prob but could something be causing this other then it being old and have to be changed???

old brake fluid is usually black.

well the break needs to be press all the way the way to floor to get a ounce of breaking power any suggestions on what it might be the pads are all there the rotors also are great

i read up on it and i narrowed it down to the master brake cylinder any input from anyone??

also after i install i need to bleed the brakes dose anyone know the order i have to do it in

Brake fluid is gold and watery.

Have you inspected all 4 brakes yet? A soft pedal can br a number of things. The rear brakes are notorious for the slide pins seizing causing the caliper to freeze up and the pads to only push on one side. When they extend out far enough, pedal can get soft.

Also air in the lines can be a cause. I would bleed the brakes after inspecting. Order is farthest brake to the mc. So pass rear, drivers rear, pass front, drivers front.

Do you suspect the MC was replaced before? Or do any of the calipers look new? That would suggest the brakes were improperly bled.

If you pump the pedal, do the brakes get stronger? More evidence to air in lines (or seized caliper) over a faulty mc

when car is off i pump them pressure builds but i can still get the pedal to the floor with min pressure the calipers look older brakes look like they been on for a little but are still meaty but when the car is on the brakes are weak and no pressure builds at all'

In that case it does sound like a bad MC

I had a similar situation before. Mine came when (somehow) the left rear had a pad go missing and the only thing stopping that rotor was the pad closest to the outside of the car and the piston itself. Eventually, the piston slipped the boot and I had the same symptoms. Numerous variables lead to me being able to get home safely and still having brake fluid. I'm sure you have already checked for this, but I thought I would throw it out there just in case
