Long story made short. I picked up a 96 GT about 2 years ago and had a problem with the right rear brakes squeeking. Took it back to the dealer. They replaced caliper pads and rotor. I drove it 1600 miles to texas. Problem happened all the way there. Lots of Brake dust on right rear wheel. Took it to a shop here they said it needs a axle. I declined. I took it apart and the ebrake cable was froze on right side. I replaced. The pads were tapered off at the top. I replace slides lubed it up did pads and rotors but it back toghers and still squeeks. The e brake some times is firm sometimes its loose. When brakes are applied the squeek goes away. The taper is gone also. When i turn left it goes away. Just when i drive squeek squeek squeek as I pick up speed the more rapid it gets. Is there anything else I just dont get it.

there are little clips that go on the pad to hold it tight in the caliper, i had broken ones and mine squeaked becuase the pad falls back on the rotor lightly, are your rotors gazed that makes em squeak too

not sure on the tabs? I didnt see any on there when they were installed. Are they built into the pad them self? Im gonna take that side apart again tonight and try some sand paper on the rotor and pad face to see if it helps.

no not built on the pad just little metal clips, and you have to buy the whole pad to get them, i went to a junk yard and took some of a stang

ok i think i see what you are talking about i found pics and i dont have these "slippers" on mine im going to see if i can find some.

Ford just dont see a hardware kit anymore. I got to get new pads from them. They sold them for $38.00 bucks good deal there. Comes with everything. My current brakes dont have them so somewhere down the line they tossed the hardware in the trash. Since I knew seen it I never knew. We will see how this works tonight.

Fixed turns out the little clips that go on the ends of the pad were missing. Installed ford pads all hardware. 20 mile test drive not one peep Thanks for pointing me in the right direction with that.
