I've read all the different threads and posts about the various tail/turn/brake light issues, but as with the rest of my life, I seem to be unique.

A guy pulled up beside me the other day an told me that one of my brake lights was out. So, I checked it out and sure enough, my left brake light is not coming on... UNLESS my right blinker is flashing. Everything else works like a charm (including the left blinker). Any thoughts?

Have you recently done any wiring or new harness?
Sounds like the blinker switch is completing your ground for you. Maybe start by checking at the brake light (without the blinker engaged) with a multimeter to see if you get power to the light when the brake is depressed. If you do then maybe check the ground at that light or add a better ground and try that. Does the blinker switch operate normally otherwise?

No significant changes. Yes, blinker is working normally, other than that.

I'll check the ground within the next few days.... air quality here (portland) is really bad right now with falling ash from nearby wild fires!
