Brake Light Problems

Ok i'm turning to forums for help, lol
I have a 96 3.8 V6 mustang 5speed with brake light problems.

I got a fix it ticket for the brake light problem and i've tried changing all the rear bulbs, the fuses, traced all the wires running from the brake light in the back to underneath the dashboard, i checked the flasher, changed the brake light switch. But nothing has worked, i noticed everytime i fut in a new fuse (10amp) in the fuse box located underneath the driver side dash, it keeps blowing every time i press the brake pedal!!! >:O

I heard that it could be the brake control module located on the ABS, I've tried looking for the BCM (brake control module) but i can't find it, the books say its located behind the radiator in the front right engine compartment. Does anyone know what it looks like? Can you show post a pic of the location please and Thank you!

I have until April 12 to get this fixed! lol

Are you sure you have ABS? I don't recall 96 3.8's coming with ABS. not except for GT's. Maybe it was an option on a later year IDK.

Your problem sounds like you have an instant short along the line somewhere. Check for melted wires behind your tail lights, and also underneath your dash. You stepping on the brake pedal and suddenly the fuse blows, there's definitely a short (like 2 bare wires touching). Thats the only thing I can think of ATM since you noted you replaced the bulbs.

Are you using the correct bulbs?
