brake lights

my brake lights won't work....and i'm feelin the need to get the car out of the garage.....help me!
i have replaced the brake light swith....that wasn't it.
i tested the power going into the brake light swith and coming out of the brake light swith.....both have power.
my flashers don't work either. front flashers work....dash flashers work....no rear flashers....
i tested the power at the tail lamp too....no luck!


does any one know what the problem could be?

Could be wiring harness, connector or turn signal or hazard switch.

It's different than my '65, but see if you can check the connector coming out of the column for brake/signal light power. Orange/blue (Right) and Green/Orange (Left). If none, then it could be the hazard or turn signal switch.

start tracing back, First make sure you have a good ground for the tail light assembly. Then follow the power wires back untill you get power.


You own and know how to use a multi meter right?

Check all bulbs to see if any are burnt out. One can cause others to not work.

do your turn signals work?? Everything goes through your turn signal cam, signals, brake lights, and hazards...

Have you checked to make sure all the grounds are good?

well.....not so much on the multimeter Gingerbreadman.....i have aspirations of learning though......

i did figure out that jacking around with the turn signal lever screws up some stuff and fixes others ....so i'm thinking a $120 turn sigal switch should do the trick....
