Howdy,

Just a quick question. I have a 1986 Mustang GT Vert; I just did new rotor/hub assemblies, calipers and brake hoses.. when i took the stock brakes apart there was a washer that I thought went between the hose and the caliper as a seal. Makes no sense for it to go there now though because the hoses are a good 2 or 3 threads away from the top of the calipers (and they dont want to tighten anymore). Do I have the wrong calipers/hoses or does the washer go between the hose and line union?

Could someone draw me a picture or at least verify what I am doing is correct?

Regards,
G

Put a washer on the banjo bolt, the put it through the brake line, and then add another washer. So you have washer on both the top and bottom sides of the brake line. They are called copper crush washers, go to your local parts store and buy new ones, you'll need 2 per caliper. And you are correct, they are for a seal. thats why yo need new ones when you remove the bolt, or else it will leak.

So it just goes between the hose and line.. not between the hose and caliper correct?

There was only one on there.. they were the stock brakes too :\.

I'm talking about the caliper end of the line, NOT the chassis end...

re-read my post I can't really explain it further.
