Ok, I have to pull my master cylinder back off to fill in all of those nasty holes behind it.
I was thinking that while I have it off, why not paint it?
What kind of paint should I use? Will ordinary automotive paint be ok, or will the brake fluid screw it up?
I painted mine with whatever grey paint I had laying around. I carefully bench bled it, installed it, and then proceeded to wash it down with water ASAP. No issues since.
Since brake fluid is hydroscopic, the water flush should be sufficient to remove the external fluid. Usually brake fluid needs to sit a bit on paint to cause it to blister. Remove it right away and you should be fine.
Reason why I always hose off a car after doing a brake fluid flush...just in case I spilled or splashed fluid anywhere.
I seem to have an abundance of POR 15 right now. I painted my block semigloss black, that would match it pretty nicely. Think I'll go that way.
