BRAKE PROBLEM! please help

Everything about my brakes is stock. I have a 66' and i've had a wierd brake problem lately. When i go to press the brakes, I have to slam down on them all the way to the floor and till they cant be pressed anymore, to start braking. Whats worse it that it barely slows down once i begin doing that. Does this have something to do with my brake fluid, master cylinder and stuff like that? Or my drums, pads or stuff like that. I tried looking in my chiltons, but im inexperienced so alot of that stuff was a foriegn language. Ill explain more if need be. Please break the problem down to me so that i can fully understand it. Oh yah.....theres no squeaking noises or any other noises.

Sounds 100% like you have a leak somewhere. You are running out of fluid to pump so the pedal goes to the floor. Jump under the car and check all the hardlines and where the go into the brakes. If they all look fine, then go ahead and jack up the car and pull the wheels and then the drums. More than likely one of the wheel cylinders (located at teh top of the brake face) is bad and leaking the fluid out. Should be pretty obvious, there should be fluid everywhere.

If it is, then you need a new cylinder and then to refill the master cylinder and bleed the brakes. Its possible but I doubt the master cyl is leaking, maybe one of the fittings but probably not.

Buy some Dot 3 lift the rear of the car bleed the breaks starting from the farthest wheel refill the MC and keep bleeding untill you are done with the last wheel now your breaks will be super stiff.

Check for leaks first and then bleed if none found

Okay, So say I do have to replace a cylinder because of a leak....about how much do you think that is going to cost me. What about a leaking hardline? Also, excuse the inexperience but what does bleeding the brakes mean? Pumping them after adding fluid or something?

Ok bleeding is very simple.
you need a friend or someones help.
first you pop the wheel off
Now pop the top of the Master Cylinder refill it with Dot 3 untill to the top
next you look on the back side of the drum and you see this nut that has a hole right in the middle of it (If i can find a picture i will add it)
turn the nut clockwise have a fuel line tube or something to collect the fluid now have a friend pump the brake pedel untill you dont hear any air comming out of it tighten the bolt and refill the Master Cylinder now move on to the next wheel. Remember to start with the farthest wheel from the Master Cylinder. I dought your going to have anything leeking but look for any leaks while your down there. This will flush your break system and you will have new fluid in your break lines.

Wheel cylinders are inexpensive--generally under $15 each. I used to rebuild them with kits, but it is easier and so cheap I just replace them with new now.

just to add on StangMasters brake bleeding thing...

Start with the passanger rear wheel...then the drivers rear wheel, then passanger front, then drivers front.

You wan to attach a line on the nipple of the bleeder screw. The bleeder screw is th other fitting on the cylinder that doesnt have the hard line attached to it.

Get your buddy to press on the brake pedal slowly. Open the bleeder screw and allow the fluid to come out. DONT LET THE PEDAL GO YET. When fluid stops coming out, tighten the bleeder screw, then your buddy can release the pedal. When it comes up, press it again and you open the bleeder screw. When the pedal touches the floor, hold it and and you tighten the bleeder again. Keep doing that till you get a constant stream of fluid, you want ZERO air bubbles in the lines. Do that on all 4 corners and you should be good to go.
