Brake proportioning question...

I am sure this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it in the search...

I have a 65 with a manual drum/drum setup. I want to upgrade to a dual master cylinder and I have been told that the master cylinder from a 69 is a direct bolt in.... however, I know that the 69 came with a disk/drum setup. Can anyone tell me what proportioning valve I need to get in order to make this setup work?

Ford installed a metering valve 10psi that mounts near the distribution block in the rear brake line. The function of this valve was to keep some pressure on the rear brakes so that the pedal wouldnt be mushy. I had to replace mine this summer, www.mpbrakes.com sells the valve for around 25.00. They can answer questions on brake components, they were very helpful to me. By the way, do not install the adjustable proportioning valve you see in magazines, it is designed to lock the front brakes by turning a knob, usually for racing applications. I almost made the mistake of thinking that was correct for my '68. Hope this helps.

use a 67 drum/drum master cylinder, and use the 65 pushrod instead of the longer 67 pushrod.

Masterpower Prop valve

I used the MP distribution / Proportioning valve in Chepie, works great.

The hot ticket for you is to find a Maverick with manual brakes, disc front. The MC bolts right in, and also use the prop valve and needed lines. From what I hear, almost a bolt-in.

Pretty sure 75-77 with the front disc brakes.
