Brake Warning Light Coming On As Car Stops

Hey all:

My Brake warning light has been coming on intermittently when coming to a complete stop. My car will stop about 98% of the way and then the dash brake warning light will come on.

I checked the fluid level and it is fine.

Any ideas? I'm thinking master cylinder might be going out?

Mine will do that if I stop hard....may want to check your pads.

the brake light will come on if you have low fluid in the reservior, and if the E-brake is on......

Mine is doing the same thing, Its your brake fluid level going low, because your pads are getting thin which causes more fluid to be used to compress your brakes.

Pedal squishy, and weird vibrations when stopping?

My fluid was leaking from the left rear banjo bolt (previous owner under tightened it after a brake job I assume) and it was VERY slow, never left a drop after it was parked and it would lower the level enough to trip the brake light.

The Brake warning light only monitors two thing

E-brake on light

or Low brake Fluid.

That's all it does. It's pretty dumb and people give it a lot more credit than it deserves. The light does not monitor brake pressure nor can it sense a leak. If you look at your MC resevior, you'll see it plugged into the side. When the fluid sloshes around, it can trip the light. You fluid is prob a tad low or its sensitive.

Pads are still thick as they were changed 6 months ago. I topped of the fluid so we'll see. The pedal feel is pretty firm and braking performance is normal/adequate for stock brake components.

I'll double check the torque on the banjo bolts and will go ahead and bleed the system.... couldn't hurt!

If your fluid is fine and your light comes on, im thinking it's a fault low-fluid sensor.

I had one I had to overfill a bit to keep the sloshing down and keep the light off. It was under hard acceration in a 12 sec fox... Fluid was full to the line but it still sloshed enough.

Agreed.
Mine did this a few years back.Had low fluid level in the reservoir ,and everytime i braked,the light would come on,feeled just a tad over the line,and problem was solved.

Mine did it last week so I added just a little fluid and noticed there is
a yellow float that popped up higher into the neck of the resovoir.

Yes, mine is low as well.....must be why it comes on when I brake hard. Good to know.
