Brakes and Brake Kits

I'm about to start on the rear brakes for my 73 vert. It's your standered disks up front drums in the back. I've been looking around and found a few kits for the back. Mustangs Unlimited has no name kits for around 700 and up. CJ has a Baer
kit for around 1300. I know you get what you pay, so is the Baer good quality?
Also I want to replace the front disks to match the new rear. Baer front disk is about 1700. Fair deal? There doesn't seem much out there, any other idea's?

Thanks!

Check these three sites out for other options www.vintagevenom.com ,
www.ultrastang.com , or www.mustangsteve.com , factory parts means that replacements are easy to find.

Thanks for the suggestions! But now I'm confused. I thought I had clue about what I was doing, but not to sure now. On the Vemon and Mustang Steve, you order the kit based on the bearing size (Small or Large) Based on what I have read the rear disk kit was based on the number of axel splines (28 or 31) The only to mesure the bearing is to every thing off down to the axel. Correct?

The most economical way to go is with the crown vic rear disks if you have a small bearing rear, or explorer brakes if you have a large bearing. Axle spline doesnt make any difference that Im aware of. If you want to upgrade the fronts as well, I would look into Mustangsteves kit that uses stock drum spindles and adapts the 2005+ mustang v8 12.5" rotors and aluminum calipers. At around $375, for the mustangsteve fronts and ~$100 for crown vic rears, plus a master cyl @ ~$35, plus incedentals, youll be spending well under $550 for a badass set of brakes.

Here's a diagram of different axle housings.

Thanks again everyone! Thanks for the attachment Grabber, it will be usefull this weekend (Guess what I'll be doing) and for future ref. One more question, what would be the best way to remove the old drums? Drop the rear and then take them apart or leave the rear in place remove the drums and then drop the rear. The rear end is coming out so I can clean and paint it, I will also be replacing the shackels, bushings ect. at the same time. Thanks!
