I have a 2001 gt vert and need to get the brakes done. I used to do them myself on my 90 lx 5.0. I had disc up front and drum in the back. Is there anything special doing them on the 2001 one. Also what are good pads to use. Any info at all would help.

thansk

doing a right break job !

Yes they must be done right, start at the back, open the bleeders before turning the rear caliper pistons in, dont force the fluid back without the bleeders open because of the anti-lock, same on front, cut the rotors, use good pads like Raybestos, Dot 3 or Dot4 fluid ,if you have 25,000 miles or hard miles as in alot of racing bleed out all the fluid & fill with new good stuff like Dot 4, break the new pads in slowly maybe 50 miles of reg driving, adjust emergency brake cable " never know when you might need it" thats it there is a Bullitt site which shows & tell all about doing the brakes on late model Fords.............good luck Johnny

Brakes

Nothing too special about my car;I did not bleed the rear.
Make sure you turn the rotors. Do not use "brake best" pads form Orileys:they will screech no matter what you do.Grease the slide pins really heavy.
Orileys sells a wagner "thermo quiet" pad that works great although they feel a little soft . Do not use any "brake quiet" sprays with thermo quiet pads.

Thats my two bits.
