I had a shop install a brand new AOD I ordered from a company I'd rather not say the name of right now, the AOD is rated for 600 hp, with a 2000 stall torque converter and shift kit. Brand new throttle kickdown cable was also installed, deep aluminum pan with tranny cooler.

The tranny shifts gears hard ( which is nice ) but when I stomp the gas, there just isn't any "pull", I accelerate but it feels like the transmission is slipping in all the gears. The only way I can describe it is, it feels like my tires are spinning when I stomp the gas. My stock AOD pulled alot harder and it had over 100k miles on it. The "slipping" feeling goes through out the entire power band.

If anyone has any ideas, I would really appreciate any info of possible problems. Please help, and thanks.

Are you running a non-lockup converter?

sounds like another GER victim. might be in the converter if its not set right for your motor i have a stock motor with a 3000 stall i wouldnt recomend anything less than that unless its a very heavy car.

It's not a GER...I was on the phone with the owner of the tranny company yesterday....he's telling me that the Detent Cable MUST be set at 35 pounds.

I know the detent cable controls the gear shifting, I wasn't aware that it would effect the the slipping of the transmission. I hope to hear some good input from any of you AOD guys.

You know, I'm really not sure...I have very little knowledge on how aod's work, I've always had a manual trans, but seeing as how my wife loves my car, has no problems on me sinking money into it, and the impossibility of teaching her how to drive stick, I compromised and kept it an aod.

I just gave the tranny builder what I had, what the car was, and I put my faith in him.

And what is the difference between a lock up and a non-lock up?

Again thanks guys for the input.

yes, the cable controls line pressure"fluid pressure agianst the clutches"

lock up converters lock the motor to the tranny in 3rd and 4th"no stall or converter slip"
