Break In Perioud

Im having a fresh new 302 put in this hopefully this week, or possibly next. I want to know if anybody has any good breaking in tips, i will drive real carefully untill how many miles? Just don't want to do anything rash when the engine is still new. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Basically giving it a few steady pulls to 4-5k rpm around 1/2-3/4 throttle in 2nd or 3rd gear a few times and let it coast down in gear. Do this a few times varying the load, speed and rpm. Come back home and change the oil/filter and then cut your filter open with tin snips to see if theres any shavings in it. Congrats, you're now broken in. I'd be anal and change the oil again a week or 2 after the second change. I changed my oil in my 347 4 times by the time I hit 500 miles.

Go to walmart and pick up a bunch of bottles of walmart oil, its $.97/qt and just as good as the name brand conventional oil.
