1. Went to put my heads on my shortblock and one of the shorter bolts is broken off in the block. I thought i checked all the bolts before i took it to the machine shop but i guess missed one. What can i do?. Do i just drill it out and tap it. Thankfully my head is a 1/2inch bolt head and i was using reducers to you the smaller bolt. So can i just drill it out and tap it to accept a 1/2 inch bolt.

2. when i was checking pushrod length, the polylok only screws on a couple turns adjusted. Ive turned the motor over and the line the rollers leave is not dead center of the valve stem but it is a narrow straight line. I always heard thats all it needs to be is a narrow line. But the problem is the polylok does goin on very far. Just a few threads. Are the pushrods too long. I left the lifters in oil for a week, i thought this was sposed to keep them pumped up, but when i press down on the rocker it depresses.

3. The heads are patriots, milled .30 and the block has been milled .05. So i figured the intake wouldnt line up. I heard it would hit the block and wouldnt touch the heads. But the intake will sit on each head, and there is problem 1/16 of an inch gap between the block and the bottom of the intake. Will this be good with a thick gasket, or does the intake need to be milled.

Thanks for all the help, im frustrated tryin to get this car done.

Yes there is a head bolt broke off in the block. I bought the block off someone, and took it to the machine shop. Didnt notice the broken bolt. I think im going to take it the local shop and have the drill and tap it.

What about the pushrods, is only 3 or 4 turns down on the polylok or do they need to be shorter. They are about 1/4 shorter then the roller rocker studs.

I would take it to a machine shop and have it fixes by them. I'm surprised that the machine did not noticed that.

When your talking about the polylok do you mean the locking nut in the center of the nut that adjusts the valve. If you are talking that when I did mine I only had 2 to 3 turns on the locking nut.

Use an old lifter and take it apart and convert it to a solid by fliping the plunger. Then check the pushrod length... add +.030 for correct lifer preload. i think this is how its done
