sup everyone, I’m not new to the forums but this is a new account since I forget my old one.
I have a 85 converted 5.0 with a eldebrock performer intake and 4 barrel carb on a standard mid-80’s 302.
the transmission is a 4 speed AOD or 1-D-1 shuffle as some call it.
my throttle pressure cable recently broke on the end where it joins to the bracket which is underneath the throttle cable connecting the two.
its the cable that controls the pressure inside the transmission, and it needs to be on at least for mine otherwise my tranny will burn up.
to the question, I’ve been looking everywhere for a new cable and have rigged mine to work for now, but its always coming off, since the stud that goes thru the bracket and is held by a clip is broke and plastic..*thanks ford*
I have yet to find another in a junkyard, and since my car aint stock in any way shape besides that its a common engine and tranny, transmission shops cant find a piece, and Will charge me alot to have them make something.
I notice alot of other people seem to have this problem as well, and many have talked about getting a lokar kickdown kit I believe they have kickdown kit for C4-C6-AOD fords, I looked at it and it seems it will work, but I’m not much of a gear head yet and my knowledge is limited, I have a friend who has had several mustang and knoes what hes doing but he is busy at his job as am I.
so, what is your guy’s take on the Lokar kickdown cable, do you think its something that will work for me? I really would appreciated it, cause I need this fixed and I will base it on what you guys and my friend say, if its a yes or probably I wlil buy it and try it out. *crosses fingers*
This is my second mustang, first was a 1990 hatchback, burgundy with black interior..I love mustangs and dont want this one to end up a piece of **** cause I can’t fix it.
