Broken motor mount question.

If the motor mounts are broken slightly (ripped part way), how much will it effect acceleration? Will it cause any funny reactions under hard acceleration?

My passengers side motor mount busted and the engine would actually rotate up and shove the air cleaner bolt(it was a little to long) against the hood. I wouldnt run it hard if you suspect the mount(s) are bad.

My throttle linkage would bind up when the engine was rotating off the motor mount. Felt like the pedal was sticking. I didnt realize it was the mount until I saw evidence of the air cleaner nut scraping on the hood. Thats all I got for ya.

yup i got tired of dealing with broken mounts and built a brace from the head to the frame. check my homepage and find it. it works good.

yes u will have problems during launch. not only does the motor jump up on one side but the linkage can get bound as previosly posted and fuel in the bowls of a carb can tip in. often it is the hood and the headers stopping the engine from moving so u can tweak all the exaughst gaskets while loosening everything up.

Other than it giving your fan shroud an extemely short life span , no, not really. And maybe if you have a std transmission, the clutch linkage ( the Z bar ) may fall off

I don't have a clutch linkage anymore (cable clutch), and right now there is no hood on the car.

Then I take it, the only part you need worry about is the fan shroud?

Yes and then is already a nice crack in my nice new fan shround!

No, you won't have to worry about the crank, you'll need to be aware that, that horrible ripping sound is the fan chewing up the shroud. Hope the shroud isn't the metal kind, if it is then you'll need to buy stock in your favorite fan mfg.

Whops, that should have been crack, not crank! There is just a small crack in the top of shround so far, but other then that it's good. I'll have to fix them mounts, then deal with this whole engine performance deal (see ignition/carb post).
