Broken Motor Mount

im sure it will be a pain to swap. but i wouldn't remove the starter. id get at it from the front if you can get around your a/c. im not sure if thats in the way because mine is gone. maybe just swap to a tubular k while your at it?

might be a pain. you would have to take off the starter unbolt both motor mounts with a 21mm socket and breaker bar. and lift the engine with a jack and block of wood from the bottom to get enough clearance.

+1 on pita. Might have to remove the ac if its in the way... I don't have it anymore and would think its in the way.

Starter does have to come off... Pray there are only 2 of the 3 bolts as the top one is really hard to get to.....

top one on the start is a PITA. i would think you can get it with a combination of a unibit and some extenstions. Dropping the K-isnt would give you direct access but its alot of work :). Best to do some headers or replace the k with a tublar one while its down if you have the $ to do it.

The top starter bolt, once removed, does not need to be reinstalled it. I havn't put mine back in and it has been over a year with no problems. To get the top one out, what I did was; take a stubby wrench, place the box end on the bolt head, use a chain and drape it over the open end of the wrench, and pull down.

You can get to all the bolts from the front of the motor with lots of extension and swivels. the bottom two you go through where the motor mount lower nut is on the k member the top on you go up BY the motor mount above the k member. Expect you fore arms and fingers to hurt b/c of the way you have to contort yourself to make this work. God forbid one strips. The middle bolt on my starter was stripped and I spent 5 hours getting my starter off. On a side note, sears has some bad ass bolt outs that are 3/8 drive and are slim enough to get in there. 20 bucks for the full set (starter and expansion set). Best investment thus far..... :D

I have done this before. I installed poly mounts on mine.

You MUST remove the starter to access everything on the passenger side. Rempove the starter is a PITA so get some extensions and a universal joint.

When you lift up the motor to remove the mounts, jack off the bellhousing

use lots of WD40

Thanks for the replies, So I have to remove the starter and just unbolt the left side motor mount from the engine just to replace the right side.....crap.....might as well change both MM's while I'm at it. Dam I just did a PI Swap too and I didn't notice. It would have been alot easier.
