66 mustang convertable...put key in trunk lock and it just keeps turning
cant get in trunk...thought i could go thru back seat..but cross bars and the hydraulic system for the top is in the way...do i take it to a locksmith and have him drill it out..or is there another way

Get in the backseat way . I know stuff is in the way but if there is a hole big enough for a socket on a long extension , you can remove the bolts that hold the latch plate to the tail light panel and the trunk will open . You can then take the lock out and replace it without a locksmith . The lock itself might be good just something inbetween (like the latch) has worn out or gotten loose .

haha i have the same thing going on with mine (66) there must be some kind of mass produced defective lock in which they installed on these cars, a trick that i use is turn it back and forth, each time slowing and pushing on the lock clicking it back and forth...it just took time and patience till i got mine open...the replacement locks are cheap and come with a new key (any mustang vendor carries them)...good luck and let us know how it turns out1:flag:
