Im looking forward to buy a timing adjuster instead of a chip for my stock 2002 Auto GT, but read this from the Steeda website:

"1999-2002: 12° to 14° Note: 1999 and newer Mustangs may experience some "bucking" during part throttle operation if the timing is set above 13°. This will not affect full throttle performance. "

Do any of you with T/A have this bucking?

Thanks
Alf

I felt some very slight bucking in my 00GT with the Steeda Pulleys and T/A. It may have been the high degree of timing I was running though but it wasn’t annoying at all. It only did it right when the rpms would level out between shifts under normal driving conditions and the only time I ever really felt it then was in heavy traffic, when you might have to level off in 2nd gear before coming to a stop again. Never felt a thing under a load or after I was up to cruising speeds. I’m running the same pulley and adjuster combo on a 02GT and have no bucking anywhere in the rpm range. Could be the difference in the actual timing though. I was running 16* on the 00GT and between 14 and 15* on the 02GT.

I have a tune, and I still have the same "bucking" when the cars not under load. Once I start revving, it grabs and goes, but when I level off to slow down or whatever, I can feel a slight surge now and then. It doesnt really bother me, but when my g/f drives it, it had bucked really bad a few times with her lol. Shes just not used to driving my car that much . I told her to take it easy in mine, when she gets her Cobra I get to drive it some .
Back on topic... I would think adjusting timing is adjusting timing, regardless if its done by the chip or the t/a. If its over a certain amount, it may just cause bucking that we cant control

I never had any problems. Ran from 11* up to 17* with no issues on my old 99 GT.

I have a used T/A that is in a box if you are interested in getting a better price than new. PM me if interested.

Thanks for the replies. How much did your 1/4 mile times were improved after the T/A and/or chip?

Thanks

Your not really going to see much of a difference at all in track times with just a timing advance. After all is said and done with my car mod wise, a chip just made more since, so thats why I went that route. In the end, it should net me a decent gain with a/f correction, and timing, but just for a bump in timing, you might see around <.10 difference at the track if that I would think.
