Well, it they've been on there a while, the Gunk stuff doesn't work all that well. Also, applying it on a hot day doesn't help, because it dries up on you too soon and just makes a mess. You'll have to use a little elbow grease in that case. Wet it down for 5-min or so first to soften them up and try cleaning them off with one of those plastic woven Scotch-Brite scouring pads and some dish soap and water.

Can't believe you would even show one of these to the car! Not sure if you can get it in the US, but there's a product called PROLONG (think they have a website) that's sold here in the UK as a "waterless wash". I only use it to get rid of the bugs, they wipe straight off with little effort using a standard cloth.

Dude you worry too much. Our cars aren't made of cake frosting. I used to work for a dealership and we used these to get bugs off of the front end of literally hundreds of cars. They're plastic, not metal. No scratches to the finish, no swirl marks, just good results. I’d be more worried about the effects of some of these chemicals that people are spraying onto their finishes more than that of a scuff pad and a little elbow grease.

Toothbrush....

I use a toothbrush on my bumper. I made the mistake of using it on my headlights though. Now they look smoked, because I scuffed them a little. Nah, they aren't that bad, but they did scuff 'em a little. I didn't notice it scuffing the bumper at all though, so I don't know if it's a good idea to use a toothbrush or not.

I've been meaning to ask this very same question. I have a huge bug problem with my car. I do a lot of night driving, so I see many bugs. I drive between a lot of farm fields too, so sometimes I hear so many bugs hitting it sounds like rain. Makes me just to hear it. I can NEVER get them all off!!!

I don't use anything on my car that I wouldn't use on my "parts".

They sell "Prolong" here, but its for your schlong not your 'stang.

BTW, I usually use a air-powered DA with a disc made of the same stuff this pad is made of:

It makes cleaning the car a breeze and gets all the bugs and tar off in minutes.
