Building new Shortblock. Who to deal with?

Last week I found out that one of my ring lands let go on my motor. I'm now looking to do a rebuild and am kinda wondering who makes quality affordable parts. I'm thinking at least new rods and pistons but am kinda leaning towards a 5.0 stroker kit. The car is s/c running at about 11 psi so I need it to be reasonably stout. What parts are you guys running and who do you recommend I get them from? What kinda RPM's can I expect out of the new shortblock with the recommended items? -Trent

I think you should just go with a built shortblock unless you have alot of experience building engines. Supposedly, the clearances in our engines is very tight and they take a bit more care than most to assemble.

Most folks on these boards tend to buy shortblocks from MPH and VT. I've heard of several people spinning their stock blocks up to 6500rpm with cams and valvesprings; I see no reason why any aftermarket block couldnt handle that kind of RPM but the manufacturer would be the best to ask.
