Built up 2v, 650hp?

For the past year i had been waiting for an 03 cobra motor swap into my GT. Now i have the money to do it, but now everyone and his brother around here has a blown cobra putting out 500 horses, so it would be nothing special. So i have changed my mind and want to build up a supercharged 2-valve capable of hurting the cobras...

Long story short I want to look in the neighborhood of 550-600 streetable horsepower and be able to turn the boost up for a strip tease once every few weekends and hit 650. Im sure the stock block isnt up to those power levels, so im looking at DSS Racing. Ive heard good things about thir mod motors and more specifically the stroked SuperMod 5.0. (they list for 4200 with arp studs, main girdle, all forged bottom end, and their cnc'd blueprinted block, all assembled)

My questions are:

1- Where should i go to have my PI's ported?
2- What cams are a good balence for the street and the track?
3- I have 4.10's and those along with the torque of the stroker make me think a centrifugal blower is a good idea. What blower?
4- What intake options? (bulitt? P-51?...)
5- Complete 03 Cobra engines/tranny's are going for ~12k as i have seen, would this build up plus t-56 swap be around the same price?
6- Swap to a double pump 03 cobra fuel tank?
7- Any other info i need to know?

I would get with VT or Modular Powerhouse for a build up. A stroker or big bore could easily get you over 600, most are making that at the wheels. I also thought about the cobra swap but a 2v can make as much power and its cheaper. For my shortblock a paid around $4300 though a longblock is probably your best option, their websites have the pricing.

Depending on how much power you want to make will depend on the blower. If you go with Novi 2000, or T-trim, You can make 6-700rwhp. The KB 2.2 also isn't a bad choice for a street car. Either intake is good, the P-51 may be alittle better up top though. I would highly suggest a return style fuel system. That'll cost you another $5-600.

I'd say if you go all out it will run you $13-$15k. You could always save money by getting just a forged non-stroker. You could still make 5-500rwhp with that setup.

Modular Powerhouse is the way to go.

Look at my sig. to see how to achieve over 700 rwhp with a 2v.

How many pounds of boost are you running 03?

So either way with a longblock im looking at...

lets see..
vt/mph stroked long block ... 8700
vt cams ... 500
blower... 4000
t-56 tranny... 2300
good clutch... 650
new radiator... 850
rear end beef...1000+?
fuel system... 1000+

almost 20k right?

seems like a lot of the guys with big centri blowers are going twin screw lately.

Personally I would rather have a twin screw, but with all the torque the stroker would give, i think i would want my boost to come on later in the rpms, correct?

Twin turbo would be fun... very fun... and if i wanted to tack on 8k instead of 4k then i would do turbos. I dont think i want to get up in the 8 and 900hp marks yet, (YET) so i would rather stay with a good blower.

Would the kenne belle 2.2 roast my tires every time i tapped gas? How much would i have to drop in gearing to get traction? I have 4.10's now.

Am i wrong with thinking the centri will be the better route?

theres 3 03 cobras in my area that i know, could be more that..they have over 600 to the wheels and arent having no problems

yeah, the 03's around here are pretty beefy too, im just lookin to have a mean 16 valver

You may as well just call the guy's at MPH they seem to build ton's of very high HP cars. lots of experience to draw from there.

From what I have read over the years I would trust them the most I think.

Just throwing out an HP number is not alwasy the best way to go. an optimized 500hp car can out run a poorly setup 600hp car.

Strocker isnt really going to do a WHOLE lot....you can get 650RWHP with 281 CID pretty easy.

With a centri setup, all you need is a novi 2000, forged SB, MPH stg 2.5 heads, MPH blower cams, bullitt intake, 03 cobra tank/pumps W/ KB boost a pump. Engine wise, that would get you there, providing Tim tuned it.

KB would need the same setup, besides the bullitt intake.
Cam/headed 2.2 KB 2Vs can make a good 25RWHP more than a 4V 04 cobra with the 2.2 KB and same boost...then you can go with race heads and hotter cams and approach 685RWHP all on pump gas.

Then you can do the race head setup with twin 57MM turbos and make OVER 1000RWHP....its all what you want, but the bottom line is that a 2V can give you more power than you will ever want. Dont forget thats you will need ALOT of supporting mods....Tim said the adverage 600RWHP setup runs around 30K after its all said and done.

Will stroking the motor (adding more cubes and lowering the boost psi) net me more max horsepower on street gas (93octane) than a non-stroked motor? I want as much horsepower as i can on street gas and i assumed more cubes would give me more power with less boost...

actually the stroker motors are good for a lil more mid-range power.

& btw - MPH is the way to go, hands down

Yeah, stroke that sucker! Let MPH hook you up with a good stroker/blower setup and those Cobras you're referring to will be lunch. Personally, I'd like to get a stroked DOHC motor. This is what I want!
Imagine the HP potential with this motor supercharged!
Now, Imagine the HP potential with this motor twin turbocharged!
