Bullit Suspension Question

So I just finished installing the Bullit Suspension on my 2001 Mustang GT. Now I notice that the front is at the same height, or a tad higher than stock. The rear looks ok, 1/2 inch drop for now.

I installed everything correctly, front spings in the front, rear in the rear. Installed the pigtails facing the same direction as the stock springs etc...

Should I be worried about anything?? OIr just be patient and let it settle?

I've always been told that springs need a little time with some weight on them to settle...Had a similar problem with my eclipse, but it settled and ended up looking great.

Mine took a couple months to settle, I guess because the struts were new also. I love the ride and handling. I had Steedas before, they were too low, and I drug on everything, and the shocks and struts were the originals, so it rode like crap. Looked cool though.

Ahhh, it's been 3 days and it's still high.

Should I do this to help the settling process go faster??

YES you should. Ford did that to every single Bullit before delivery so that the ride height would be perfect.

The day after my suspension install the height I measured at the wheel arches showed the ride height had dropped just under an inch, all the way around. I haven't checked it lately though now, after a month, I suspect the springs may have taken their set.

Yeah the front shouldnt be that high... did you seat them properly in the notches in the arms?

Yep, put the pigtail in the same position as the original springs.

you mentioned everything but the isolators, did you put all of them back in?

Yes, the new Ford Racing springs came with new top rubber insulator and I reused the old bottom insulators, the ones you slip onto the pig tail.

Here are pictures 4 days after the install


The front is SO high


Rear looks ok


So where did I go wrong?

Here's an idea:

(Do this yourself or take it to a suspension shop...)

Support the car such that the weight is on the wheels but that you can get under it (e.g. drive-on hoist.) On the front, loosen the lower control arm nuts & bolts a turn or two and then jounce the suspension a few times. Re-tighten the hardware to spec. (Have both sides loosened at the same time before jouncing the suspension.)

If you like, you can do this at the rear as well if you think it's not sitting right.

One theory is that if the suspension bolts were tightened with the suspension in droop, the bushings may be "wound up" like little torsion bars and might be holding the car up a bit. Loosening the control arms bolts should allow the bushings to free themselves and attain the neutral position...jouncing the car will help ensure this and settle the ride height.

One idea, anyway.

When I did the Bullitt kit on my car, I purposely didn't use the isolators. I got just over 1.5" drop in the front and about an inch in the rear after it settled. People have mixed feeling on using no isolators, but I have had no problems after 40k with none on the car. If you try everything else and are unsatisfied with the amount of drop, I would go that route. Worked for me anyway.

Yeah the front is WAY to high...i know this might be stupid but did you compare the Bullit springs to the stock ones before installing? wondering if the parts #'s were wrong and you got GT's springs that should of been bullit springs... just a thought..
