I have installed Bullitt pedal pads in my '97 GT. Got the clutch and brake pads on without too much trouble (blisted my fingers but what the heck). Now I'm on the gas pedal and I can't figure out how to disconnect the cable from the linkage. Looks like there is a grommet that should pop out but it won't. I don't want to force it and break something. Any suggestions?

On mine, the grommet slid in from the top. There's a cut in the metal where it slides in and and grommet pops in. Worse comes to worse....you should be able to just pull the grommet out forward, then slide the cable out of the "cut". Can you verify if there is a cut-out in the metal above the grommet?

Yep. Have the slot in the linkage, the cable slides free but the grommet is flared front and back so it stays in place on the linkage. Cramped space, can't get both hands on at the same time to put pressure on it.

Try prying it free with a flat-head screwdriver, or use some needle nose and get a grip on one side of it, and wiggle it out. I think I used a flat-head and pushed it out the top now that I think of it.

It's a pain to install, I ended up removing the entire assembly for the gas pedal, not too hard. It made it much easier not having to be stuck under there with the seat piercing my back.
