Bullitt Springs

After reading allot of different opinions about springs on here i decided to go with the "Bullitt" springs on my 93 LX. Thanks to Stang & 2 birds I had the correct part numbers to go into my local ford dealer parts guy with.

He was able to order them for me. I though the price was a little high, but from what I have read I thought the ride quality was worth it. To my surprise they also had new rubber upper iso's attached on the rear springs. So after doing the math I felt really good about the transaction.

Now, I am trying to decide on Tokico Blues or KYB AGX for shocks and struts. What do you think?

IMHO, don't even think about getting any KYB struts or shocks.

The Tok Blues are much better than the KYB stuff. IMHO, KYBs are basically for "ricer talk". They aren't any better than your regular high-end road shock - like a Monroe Gas-Matic Strut. More importantly, their damping rate is too low for a higher rate spring, or for a lowered car.

I had Tok Blues on until I upgraded to the adj Toks. The Tok Blues where a MASSIVE improvement over the stock struts/shocks.

Does anyone know what happened to the Koni info on the Mustang strut rates?

StangSuspension recommends KYB shocks and struts for OEM replacement purposes. They are not designed for higher spring rate lowering springs or racing applications.

Go with the Tokicos, they were Factory on the Bullitts so they match the Springs.

I've had alot of shocks, including both of them.
Since you bought springs for ride quality, get koni red adjustables, on the softest setting they ride pretty nice.

I'll stand alone..I have the AJX on my bullitts with MMS camber plates for 3yrs w/o any issues. the car handles fine. I'll agree that GR2 are more oem than ajx but that is my opinion. are there better sure but the price is good and they have been fine, and to be totally honest I heard plenty of good from people so I gave them a shot. If I want a change I would move up from these and try something else a step higher but i would't jump out and call them junk.

I have the Tokico Blues with my Mach 1 (same as bullitt almost) springs. Ride's nice, but it still has some firm qualities.

They are not exactly the same as the shocks/struts in the Mach 1/bullitt...but close.

I ditched my front isolators to lose a tiny bit of height up front. I have rear adjustable arms, so i installed new poly isos in the back. I didn't notice any increase in NVH with the iso's removed. I wrapped the lower coils in tape, and never drive the car in the wet so not concerned with rust. Basically i notice no change with the isos out. Your call to using them if you want.

Hell, my daily driver runs coil springs in the rear just like the Mustang with no isolators. It rides smooth and quiet.

I didn't necessarily buy them for ride quality. I have just heard good things about them from several people. My car is 98% a street car and the other 2% being doing some drag racing or an autocross with my club. However I am one of 3 foxes in this club which is why I asked the question here. Most of them have highly modded Cobras.

My parts guy did give me pricing for the "bullitt" shocks and struts. After which I started thinking maybe I should look at some adjustable shocks and struts in that price range. It is not my daily anymore, I am just looking for better handling than stock.

I appreciate the replies.

Since you may do some autocross and or drag racing, for sure get adjustable shocks.

Out of the 2 choices you listed I voted for the Blues. However, after doing lots of research on suspension I ended up with MM Coilovers and Billsteins. Love the ride.

Love the MM stuff, but I'm on a budget, so a little at a time....
