Bullitt Wheel/Tire question?

I just purchased chrome bullitt wheels in sizes 17x9 and 17x10.5. with 275/40 front tires and 315/35 rear tires. I haven't installed them yet and was just wandering if there is going to be any fit issues, like "rubbing" the exhaust, struts, etc. I have seen this combo on many stangs but, I dont know if they used wheel spacers, etc to prevent any rubbing. Any advise would be appreciated before I install them. By the way my stang is at factory ride height, but I will be lowering it 1-1.5" soon.

What kind of tires? BFG runs big, Nitto's run small (My Nitto 555R 315's are the same size as my BFG 295's).

Generally speaking you won't have any problems unless you have problems with the quad shocks.

You won't have rubbing issues. I have 315/35's on the back with my bullitts and no rubbing issues

I have a somewhat related question...I am looking to replace my stock rims with some Wheel Replica 17x9 Bullitts and am concerned that the front wheels will stick out to far from the fenders. From the photos I have seen, sometimes they look perfect and sometimes they look like they are out too far. For those that have these wheels, what are your opinions.

I had the same doubts at first, too. I am running the wheel replica combo with sumitomos in the front and they do not stick out too much. They fit the wheel wells quite nicely with no rubbing.

It could probably stand to be lowered an inch, but it is fine for now. Sorry I don't have any pics yet. Will get some soon...

I have 17x9 and 17x10.5 with 275/40 and 315/35 Sumitomo's. The rears don't rub anything at all. Looks like a have maybe an extra inch to play with.
The front does rub slightly on full lock. Its not that bad and easy to avoid.

Great pics, looks much better once it was lowered!!! How does the car ride and handle with the 275's up front and the Prokit? Wheels and suspension are my next mods.

My opinion...

Congratulations on your purchase! I just got my set-up, only in Anthracite, and have nothing but good things to say about Bud at Wheel Replicas and the product.

You do NOT need spacers to fit 275/40 and 315/35 tires on your Mustang. However, the "technicians" at Discount Tire, Co. would not mount my rear tires because they thought I did. They essentially said, "Sir, these back tires clearly won't fit without spacers. It's time for us to close, you're out of luck."

Well, needless to say, the car was still on the lift, completely in the air. This was important because the chasis and axle sag a bit, which extends the horizontal rear axle damper in the back. This was where the clearance issue was. I went home, and jacked the car on each side individually and put the tires on myself. As well, I shook and pushed the car as much as I could to simulate bumps and the car shaking while a friend under the car reported no contact.

In my opinion, I do not think the front or rear wheels stick out hardly at all. Even so, I think they look a bit better when they do. I have a picture of my friend's Camaro SS with A.R.E. 200S Wheels, 17x9 and 17x11-inch, that stick out a lot if you'd like to compare with the pictures on my site of my car. Let me know...

The closest point of contact with my 17 X 10.5 and 315 sumitomos is on my Borla exhaust.

It has about a 1/4 inch clearance on the passenger side. I have checked the tires and there are no issues so I am not worried.

Yeah it looked bad at stock height with those wheels. But it was only like that for two weeks, thank god.

It handles much better than stock. Its a night and day difference.
The front weeks grab every rut or bump in the road, which requires you too keep a firm hand on the wheel. But you get used to it, I hardly notice it anymore.
The ride doesn't feel any different than stock, very smooth but much firmer over bumps. I'm sure the Tokicos help keep the ride smooth. But I only had 2,000 miles on the stock suspension when I lowered it.

Thus far about 1000 miles they are great for the $$. I will buy them again if they keep it up.

I have Sumitomos in the front and Eagles in the back. I haven't put enough miles on them yet to really judge their quality. Can't beat the Sumitomos for their price.

I still love my setup, really fills out the deep wheel wells that Ford put on these stangs. The only downer (which isn't nearly enough to really be an issue) is that the wider tires in the back pick up more dirt and gravel that can be heard and seen on the back quarter panels of the car. Just might need to wash that area more often...

Does any one know what back spacing the 17x10.5’s have with 315’s to fit ok? I was planning on getting 03 cobra wheels in that size. And with a lowered car does the rear tires come in contact with the wheel well inside lip and rub or scratch (under hard acceleration)?

According to wheelreplicas web site, mine are 27mm.
