So I posted a thread about my dead fuel pump last week; then I got a new relay and everything before I pulled the seat out and discovered the positive lead from the battery was all melted into the carpet and had heated the relay plug so that it had deformed a little bit. I traced the wire back to the fuse link near the battery and it had burned up and disintegrated. Has anybody else had this problem? I dont know if this started recently or after I put in my 255 pump last summer. I installed a 14 guage wire from the battery to the relay with an inline fuse. I burned up a 6 amp fuse, then put in a 10 amp and it seems to be doing ok. Anybody know how many amps a 255 pump draws? I'd call BBK but their technical service dept takes several days to call back and answer questions. thanks guys

i am not sure, and please dont act on what i say at all - ask the manufacturer (BBK/Walbro). but i think it should be more like a 20 -25 amp fuse. if there are any specs you can probably convert the draw.

sorry to hear the link did not burn instead of your wiring. i think the stock link size is 18 guage.

good luck with it.

No relavence to your post or question, but my fuel pump wire to my holley blue on my 83 grounded out on the chassis while going down the track, and started smoking.. OUCH... Car almost caught fire! It sucked major ass, and had to have it towed home. Scary crap! Best part is I was at the end of the track and it was 10:30ish, and I was the last run and the bastards shut the LIGHTS OFF.. rofl! Jerk offs.
