Burning Out!

i've heard about 30% myself. I've heard about people stompin the brake to get a good burn but i never thought that sounded like it'd be very good for the car. Does anyone know the stock rear gears on a 65 289 coupe? Im thinkin about going to 3.55's in the rear with a little wider tire too. Then i can install a line lock incase i do want to show off now and then. :D

Does anyone notice much of a performance increase with an aluminum drive shaft? Thx for the replys

Ok, the rear brakes do 30%. I've heard 10, 20, and now 30%. Once the tires get hot and greasy less pedal pressure will be needed to hold the car anyway.

Hang on, wouldn't the smokiest startoff burnout (without holding the brake and trying to burn it up) occur with a good engine (what he has now) and the opposite gearing - like 3.00:1?

The idea behind steeper gears is to makeit easier to break the tires loose. lower gears will produce more wheel spin and more smoke faster, but there is also the option of shifting into second. Steeper gears will also overcome the rear brakes more easily.

Oh yeh no doubt, but with enough motor the gears don't really matter, as long as your tyres aren't TOO good.
