I was comming home tonite and i said wtf ill try to do a burnout in the stang in an empty parking lot. So I pushed the clutch in reved her to 4k and poped it and went to slam on the break and I hit the break and clutch pedal at the same time...............:bang: :bang: :bang: It smelt like the worst burned clutch smell Ive ever smelled in my life.. :owned: How bad could i have screwed the clutch?? I probobly took 5k miles off its life lol. I know im not the only one thats done this so share some stories.

Eh probably didn't mess it up too bad. The other night I was leaving work, and I reved it up to like 4k, then decided for some reason to feather the clutch instead of just dropping it.. smelled like I burned the **** out of the thing.. cheap Ford POS clutches.

I fried (read exploded into a million parts) a centerforce Dual friction trying to roll over my M/T's at a stoplight. I don't know what to think. I don't know if I am disappointed that my clutch went or I'm overjoyed that my tires stick that well.

If it drives fine after that, then don't worry about it. I burned the crap outa my clutch at 6,000, and while I was worried about it the next few days, it's driven fine every since, and that was 6 months ago. :)

I had a Bronco II (my first car) and once I got it stuck in a hidden ninja swamp in the middle of the woods somewhere. I had to use a LOT of clutch to get it out of there and the smell was so bad afterwards I literally drove home with my head out the window. It was awful, and I was scared I completely burned it out.

However it drove fine for a while after that, it seemed like nothing had really happened.... but then disaster struck.

Suddenly it started to wear out extremely quick, alarmingly fast. Eventually I ended up having no more than half an inch of pedal movement before I stopped driving it. I dont even know if it can make it to a shop of any kind if I tried.

Black03GT,

That all hard to shift when cold is usually not the clutch, but the problems with the tranny. There is a few TSB's around stangnet on the problem.

They are probably trying to get you to pay for a clutch and then they will replace the rest under TSB / warranty with out you knowing.

Get a second opinion.

^ You can burnout by dropping the clutch A 2K in 2nd? I can burnout in 1st from 2K....but generally rev to 3000-3500RPMs...rarely 4K. I used to rev to 4K at the track and I would hit the limiter (6250) before I knew what happened lol. Now i rev to 3Kish and dont have that problem...and since my limiter is at 6500 now I probably wont hit it durrning a burnout anymore. (have hit it when i missed a gear)

Common problem on the 3650. Mine is in the shop right now getting the TSB. While it's in there, I am having them put in a SPEC Stage 2+ clutch. Much cheaper to do it now while the tranny is out under warranty.

Oh, and I can roast them from just about any RPM, stopped or rolling, on the street. And can smoke them if I try all the way through third. No need to rev and drop the clutch here. :D

Prob not. But if u did upgrade to a heavy duty high proformance cobra clutch like I did. I love it, it's great for a**holes like us who likes to push it.:rlaugh:

eh, no prob bob. i used to smell clutch a lot w/ my stock POS too. now i never smell it w/ my SPEC stg 2. that thing grabs like a mother. jerks you back if you let it out too quick. whiplash is all too common for my passengers:D
