Think I burnt up my Centerforce DF clutch

Anyone know what the life span is suposed to be on these things? I was doing a burnout tonite and instead of smoking the tires the only thing to smoke was the clutch. I thought I was spinninig the tires until smoke poured in through the tranny tunnel, then I smelled it and got scared. I ran the car at the track about 2 hours later (had to check in and get inspected BLAH BLAH) it slipped pretty bad in first gear and the beginning of second, but seemed okay in third. This things only 2.5 years old and has probubly no more than 30 passes on it. I only ran once because I still need to drive the car as a daily driver (for now anyway). So does it look like I need a new one, I'm thinking Spec stage 3.

If anyone's wondering I ran a 14.4 at 101MPH with a 2.7 60' . Last time I went out, before the new motor, cam, tranny, sub frames, and a few misc. things I got a 13.9 spinning badly.

Dang bro, Im sorry to hear that. I have had my centerforce dual friction and I have had no problems wit it in the last 2 years. I was running a wilder engine combo then what you are running on a king cobra clutch, and it lasted me for 5 years (the guy who bought my car is still running the king cobra). Sorry to hear that bro.

Burning a clutch lessens the life span like know other, so you may have done it. But you never know, dirve it for a few more days, then youll know.

try adjusting it some. that may help, thats if you have an adjustable cable.

I do have a firewall adjuster. I'll have to try re adjusting it, it feels like its adjusted great though.
