Hey everyone, I'm the current owner of a 96 GT ragtop that has seen some serious tranny abuse from its former owner. Taking it around to all the shops in the area has brought me to one conclusion, I need a new tranny. The best price so far is $2300 for a Jasper T-45 with a 3 yr/36,000 mile warranty on it. Should I do this, or is there a better option? (For example, the T-56?)

Also, when I do get a new tranny installed, would it help to install a short throw shifter? I know the stock one is crappy, but I didn't realize it could hurt the transmission. Any help with this would be appreciated.

First of all the t-45. I bought mine built by promotion performance and with a steeda shifter, clutch, clutch cable, quadrant, and firewall adj. and royal purple tranny fluid I didn't spend over 1500 bucks. Everything inside of mine is hardened or stronger than stock. It had like a 3-400 dollar core charge. mine has seen a lot of abuse and still works like the day I bought it. They also gave me a 1 year warranty.

The t-56 you have to have someone to cut and weld you a new crossmember in. It should be that great of a hassle. but it is easier said than done.

that t56 is 1 clunky mofo..i dont like it....i had t45..it shifted faster i think than my new tr3650..tr3650 is more durable..but prey for a good 1 without 1st to 2nd grind
