Busted throw-out bearing retainer ?

My friend went to a cheap shop to get a clutch job done for his 96 mustang 4.6 5 speed today. Thay had to put it back together with a broken throwout bearing retainer and the new clutch because the shop did not work on transmissions. So my question is it easy to replace this part on 96's ? (I have replaced one on a 88 t-5 5.0) He needs it done and I am probley going to be the one to fix it because shops seem to be a rip off, $550.00 for a clutch job and a rear main seal !

yeah it's an easy job. Just pull the driveshaft, h-pipe and tranny out, slide the TOB off the release fork, put the new one on and install the rest. You should be able to do it in about 2 hours depending how bad it sucks the take the H-pipe off and get it back on.

I think your confused, The throw out bearing was replaced with the new clutch kit , the throw out bearing retainer was broken right off, making it loose on the input shaft wearing it down just a little. thay did not know how to replace it - (Asian Shop), Thay wanted to replace the whole transmission ! :notnice:
