Button sticks in Shifter, help!

Got an automatic '03 v6 stang, button is sticking on the shifter, and it won't push in. Dunno what to do. I have to turn the key WHILE pushing in the button for it to work. Been doing that for a month now. Driving me nuts!

I wanna take it in and get it fixed, but if it's something I can do myself with the tools I have at home, I'd rather do that than get charged out the butt! Any help would be appreciated!

It doesn't sound like it'd be too hard, but then again...I've never worked on a shift lever. I just checked in the Haynes manual and find nothing on this specific part! Maybe a local garage would be honest enough to tell you if it's an easy or hard to work on part.

I went to the local ford dealer here in town to get a brake switch...left with a brand new gt...hahaha!!!
