buzzing sound from bellhousing when cold?

whenever i start up the car, i hear a buzzing/hiss sound coming from the clutch it seems. if i press the clutch pedal, it lessens until i lift it up again. it also sometimes lessens after being driven for a while.

any ideas? could it be my throwout bearing? thanks.

I have the same thing with my car. Would like to know what it is too. 'Buzzing', that is the word I have been looking for.

Mine does it when the clutch is half-way depressed going down as well as when I let my foot back up. It isn't very loud but definitely annoying. Hopefully someone will confirm/or not if it is the TOB ...

It's your throwout bearing making contact with your pressure plate. Nothing to worry about at all. If it starts making a grinding noise, or popping sound, it may need to be replaced.

Strike two up, mine also does it. it is like a small hiss/air leak sound; happens exactly the way you describe. I didn't think that was the sound of a throw out bearing though?
