Bypass AC Clutch (stranded at work!)

Okay I have a problem, I'm at work and my AC clutch just seized up. I need to know how to temporarily bypass by AC clutch, I was told I can buy a smaller belt and pull the fuse to the clutch and I'll be fine until I can buy the clutch. I need to get this done fast, otherwise I'm gonna be stuck at work. Anyone done this before? Have a part # for the belt from a parts house (Autozone, etc)? Also a diagram showing how to route the belt would be helpful too. Thanks for all input, I'll be searching myself for the answer in the meantime as much as possible.:SNSign:

Yours should be easy. Just need a shorter belt. Use a piece of string around the pullies to get the length.

Can you confirm if it's the compressor or the clutch that has seized?

On the diagram posted above pulley 6 wont move. I took off my belt, and checked the others and this one wont budge. Also how would I route the shorter belt?

From the #8 Pulley over the idler to the #3 pulley.

The only thing you ever have to worry about when skipping pullies is ensuring that you don't re-route in a way that will change the direction of your serp belt. Bypassing the A/C pump on your car should be cake.

Awesome, now to find out what size belt.. I'll do the string method you psted earlier, then I'll have to look into how to disable the AC until its fixed (what fuse I have to pull lol)

You don't have to disable anything. If there's no belt, there's no nothing else either. If the clutch is siezed, you're not going to make it any worse by keeping the solenoid engaged accidentally. Just keep the A/C switch off.

When my ac went out a few weeks ago I didn't know the clutch had burned up on it. I drove it for a few miles and smelled something awful. I stopped to see what it was thinking ac and sure enough, turned off the AC no problems, kicked it back on and it was throwing sparks. Goodluck with yours I just got mine fixed but now its time for a clutch clutch..
