if i were to get a different belt could i just bypass the s/p and go streight to the crank pulley? would they make problems for anything. thanks guys, i know i should just buy the delete bracket but im on a super tight budget and the pump is making all sorts of stupid noise. thanks again.

It can be done. I did it to mine a long time ago. Just pay attention to the belt tensioner and the distance between the belt as it passes itself. Might have to bend the stop up on the adjuster to gain a little more room. You'll have to put on a belt that is tight as hell. Remember, that belt will stretch and wear in. Autozone should have belts to fit. Bring a bar and a friend with you and do it right in the parking lot. You'll have to try a few different belts probably before you get the right one. Good Luck.

cuz mine seized and i aint buying another one, plus i'd like to get rid of all those hoses, and get a cleaner look on the passenger side of my engine lol would you buy a smog pump? ? lol

On both my 95's I did this. ON the current one I just bought a smaller belt that worked w/my UD pullies. I also capped off the header and EGR as well as the air tubes that run to the back of the heads. It's one less thing I have to turn now. Only down side is I also removed all the vacuum lines that run to the EGR and now I have the dreaded CE light. No worries, there is a part that plugs right into the EGR connection that will take care of that. Sure, there isn't much power to be gained, but it is one less thing to turn.

I can understand if the pump siezed and you don't want to fix it. Or if you are making a show car... But if the system is still functional, then why get rid of it.

Because he can. :D

Really though, you'll notice that he already has an o/r h-pipe…in which case it really isn't doing anything.

It is a cheap way to loose some weight…a tiny bit of resistance and clean up the engine compartment to boot.

It was among the first mod's I did when I bought mine…even though it was still functional.

Doesn't it come out to be like 50ish lbs off the front of the car? I live in CA so its really not an option but it would be nice to lighten up the front. Thats almost as much weight as aluminum heads.

It's not that heavy. Maybe 10-15 lbs if you take everything off. You'll have to plug the back of the heads where the crossover tube went. I think it's a 5/8 coarse thread. Seal off the connector on the h-pipe. Two bolts hold the pump on and two vacuum lines can be plugged off that go to the diverters.

Belt length with under drives will be 83.5 for a good fit. Make sure you route the belt correctly. I had mine routed like the PO of my car and I had to fight to get it on. After two days it was throwing belt dust everywhere and cracked. Found the correct routing and it took 2 seconds with absolutely no effort to put it on.

Here's your routing http://www.hardcore50.com/technical_articles/shortbelt.htm

The smog pump can be bypassed easily just by getting a shorter belt. The belt will run under the alt...towards the water pump pulley on top going around down to the crank and then under the power steering pulley and then over the a/c pulley and back to the alt.

BOTH!!!!!!! Seized, AND making a show car HAHA SWEEEEET lol I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's all done, i have so many painted/chromed/polished aluminum/new beautiful peices to put on, it's already sweet w/ just block pan and heads!!!!!!! yea i painted the engine bay, and cleaned up all the wires, (not hid, just cleaned them) and i'm gonna put a nice shiny motor in the middle - most def will be show quality, not as nice as Almost Stocks though, and a few others whom i cannot remember have sweet engine bays lol
