I know I am not super active here, so let me preface this by saying that I am a competent automotive technician, but I mostly do drive-ability, steering/suspension, and advanced electronics ( Sync system, data networks, modules). I am 100% NOT an auto trans guy. I fully believe that the fix for any and all auto trans issues is the same. Add a pedal.
That said, the owner of this car wants it to stay automatic, and so autotragic it shall stay.
I have a recently rebuilt year 1 C4 trans, less than 5 miles on it, all of them testing on the jack stands. It has no reverse, and while it is hard to tell running it on stands with no tach, I suspect no 3rd gear. In-car air test showed the high reverse clutch circuit is leaking. Opened it up, and the clutch pack itself is not the issue, it goes "thud" and does not leak. I am suspecting that the seals on the back side snout of the pump are at fault, but do not know how to confirm this, nor how to fix it, since said seals were replaced at rebuild.
