Well I would like to hear everyone that has info about c-clip eliminators,, are they ok for the street? Are they prone to leaking?? What needs to be done to the housing anything?? Any cutting involved? If anyone has information about them or a story please share it,, thanks alot.

I'm going with 31 spline axels/ new possi/ and may use c-clip eliminators.

C-Clip Eliminators are prone to leaking, but they are an easy fix for eliminating c-clips and the possibility of losing an axle. My preferred fix is to replace the housing ends, with ends from a 9" Ford (available from numerous companies Moser, Strange, etc.). This also gives you an opportunity to narrow the rearend a bit if you need to and since you will be buying new axles any way, it only adds the expense of cutting, welding the ends on and new bearings.

The ends do need to be trimmed for the c-clip eliminators, however it's not a big deal. The person who did mine used a sawzall while I held the rear. A little work with a file and it was perfect. He also put some extra seals inside the ends of the housing, which should keep any fluid from leaking -- I haven't seen anything come out of mine yet.

The Strange C-clip eliminators are 2 piece and tend to leak. Mosers are a one piece and haven't heard about any leaking problems.

I run mosers and siliconed them good and havent had any leaks for two years now..

The c-clip is a little clip, shaped like a "c", that holds the axle in the rearend. If the axle should break, it may come sliding out in this setup -- not good. A c-clip eliminator setup retaisn the axle from the end of the axle tube, so if it breaks, you still hold the axle inside. Much better. This is on an 8.8" setup, other setups like 9" rears already retain axles from the end of the housing.

They are required by NHRA rules on cars that run 10.99 or better I believe.

I've had one side that i can't get sealed for nothing. They went about 1.5-2 years before they leaked. I've had them apart and sealed 3 times and one side just won't quit leaking. Last time i was gonna try the axle seal trick but thought...hey whats one more time to try it. Besides i used that so call kick ass Ford silicon..nope. I will throw the axle seals in it this time! I talked to Strange about using the axle seal, told me i'd have no problems in starving the bearing...just throw some grease on em before hand.


*edit...they first started leaking between the two halves of the elims. Both times after have been between the axle tube and backing plate. I will "eliminate" my leak with the axle seals this next time,lol.
