C springs in a GT vert

Hey guys/gals.

Searching about this was like having my fingernails pulled out by rats.

Does anyone run C Springs and stock sized rims/tires on a fox vert (I have an 88 GT vert)?

How is the look and how does it ride? Pics are welcome.

I wont blab on like I normally do - I'll keep it short and sweet and see what you guys think.

Dave, Thanks brah.

I sifted through a few forums worth of threads and also didn't find quite what I was lookin for. I read that to mean that this might not be a wise decision (I'm not big into being a pioneer. ).

I am open to suggestions on less expensive springs for a vert (that was the appeal of the B/C line). I know the German springs rock (I have Eibachs on the '94) but I wanna keep this low buck.

You guys will have a much better feel for what's feasible since a lot of the good info and experiences comes from the picture intensive threads (Yes, when you guys give a DUW, that is just for me, and only me). I just normally pass those threads up when doing the daily thread reading.

I'm lookin for about a 1" drop all the way around.

i have C's in my GT hatch..heres some pics..

i dont have "stock" wheels, but the waffles are about the same size

it also took a little while for the back to settle in good....it is still a little high looking, but if i measure the bottom of the car to the ground it is the exact same

with 17's

Iwashmycar, Thank you for the pics. I think that looks really good - that's my style.

I actually really like the stance on yours. To drop the rear a hair: Did you cut any of the coils on the rear springs (I've seen some folks say that they nip some off to help reduce rake). I wouldnt touch it personally, but I'm kinda weird.

I thought I had a line on cheaper, barely used C's but the shipping looks rediculous ($50). Does anyone know a cheap way to ship 50 pounds worth of springs? Otherwise, I'm back to square one, but I havent found anything better than the B's or C's for the cash. Any input or suggestions are welcomed.

FWIW, my 'vert has MAC progressive springs that only cost $150. I like the look and that was pretty affordable.

I think shipping was $17 when I got 'em. UPS is good shipping heavy things, they go more by box size, whereas the USPS goes by weight. FedEx and DHL are good too. I had HEADS shipped to me for $70 clear across the country via DHL, so springs definitely shouldn't be $50.

i didnt cut anything....i just had a little weight in the spare well during the winter and i think they settled a bit..

i think that they were like 140 bucks new from Jegs with no shipping charges

oh...and i had to get C/C plates because i wore through my front tires in no time...i didnt think that it would lower the front as much as it did
i beleive that it did go that far down because i didnt replace the A-arm bushings and i now think they are worn..

Ya know, I was going to ask about the C-spring drop and need for CC plates. I was hoping to use something mild enough to keep from needing them (the Prokit on the 94 is perfect - it's right on the verge - the most drop I could get away with).
I know Dave has some nice CC plates - otherwise I would get some Macs like you have.

Lemme ask another qualifier: what amount of drop can one get away with without knocking camber off so much that CCP's are needed?

Dave, thanks for the shipping info. The guy got quote from UPS - I wonder what size boxes he said he needed. I might see if he wants to hunt for a cheaper shipping solution (I ship nothing and have no freakin idea on that stuff).

I suck with pics, but here is a side shot (and a front shot, for fun). This might give you an idea of where I'm coming from (I have stock vert springs, AFAIK. I found no markings on them when redoing most of the suspension a few years ago).

Sorry for the quality - I had to unresolve the pics quite a bit.
Whatcha' all think I can do?

Because C springs have a badass look!! I wish I would've known about them before I lowered mine. But it's not worth it to swap 'em over

I think I ordered motorsport springs for my '99 GT from jegs. If I recall correctly they were like $160 with free shipping. I think these are the springs you are refering to (Motorsport?) if not disreguard my post lol. Later

I have C springs on my mustang, and I really like them. Turnin is much crisper, the ride isn't bad at all, and the look is just mean

i was thinking when the time came to get springs i'd get the MAC progressive springs like you have, but since the c springs look that badass as you said i'll get those instead, thanks for that info.

Thanks for all the posts everyone. And Steve, thanks for the kind thoughts - ya know I'm poor and don't have anything nice, but I do the best I can.

After seeing some pics, the C's really drop things. CC Plates are gonna be requisite, arent they? The C's drop the car more than I envisioned (I dont want any rubbing or big negative camber - I really just wanted a set of fresh springs since I dont know the pedigree of mine). I might need to rethink this and see about something with less drop (if there is such an animal).

FWIW, I really like the way Dave's ride sits. If buying new, I'd look hard at those (funny how my cheap project - cheap springs and nothing else, is turning into perhaps pricier springs and CC plates, etc).

JT I might consider not changing at all..with the turbines and larger series tires you have a REALLY nice stance (gorgeous car by the way!!!). Just opinion...I've found that most dropped cars don't have the ride quality that was provided by the original equipment....just opinion...again the car looks GREAT.
