Well Its taken me a week to do cause of all the rain weve had.Ill write a brief description of whats going on. Heres the pics. Sorry I dont have any after pics because after I removed my flywheel it started raining. I put up all of my toold but forgot the camera outside. Needless to say digital cameras dont like water. Oh and I know the bottom of my car isnt in showroom floor condition. Its a work in progress and its my one and only car.
theres 6 bolts holding the bellhousing to the motor.
remove the four nuts and u bolts. Use a screwdriver and pry the driveshaft toward the motor. Once its loose wrap some tape around the ujoint because the caps will fall off.Before sliding the driveshaft out of the tranny place a drain pan under the tailshaft cause fluid will run out. Place the driveshatf out of the way. Get some plastic (a sandwhich bag) and put it over the whole where the shaft came out of and wrap tape around the bag to seal the end so fluid wont get over everything.
remove the 2 bolts holding the starter on and then remove the 1/2 nut holding the starter cable on.Remove the starter.
remove the kickdown linkage by removing this c clip.
remove these 2 cooler lines from the tranny.Its not required to remove them from the radiator. Wrap some plastic around the tube ends and tape them up so no dirt gets inside.
remove the shifter linkage from the shifter by removing the cotter pin. Remove the 7/16 bolt from the speedo cable and pull the cable out.
There are 4 nuts holding the torque conv on. I used a 1/2 socket wrench a 6 inch 1/2 drive extension with a socket on the front crank bolt to spin the motor over so i could remove all 4 bolts. Remove the dipstick by pulling it up. Disconnect the vacum hose going to the vacum modulator.
All you have to do at this point is put the jack under the tranny,remove the tranny mount, pull the tranny back and drop it down. Since the previous owner has a custom H pipe made I had to cut the exhaust out to get the tranny out and in.You may not have to depending on your setup. While the tranny is out you might as well replace the filter. If your like me and manage to spill most of the tranny fluid on the ground your gonna have to put in new fluid. Iv probably left out some minor details so youll probably have to remove something that I didnt list. I have alot more pics but I cant post them due to the size of all of them.If you want them then pm me and Ill email the, to you.
