Well this has been one heck of a project so far. I've done engine transplants that went smoother than this. It just seems like one hiccup after another. I've finally gotten the tranny in. Unfortunately the new crossmember I got doesn't work right. The cross tube is too far back to pick up the tranny taps. I don't know if the guy who gave it to me moved it or what. All I know is that I have to have it moved forward about an inch. PITA.

I did however get a measurement and will be able to order the new aluminum driveshaft tomorrow. 50.5" in case anybody was wondering.

I toasted my Rotozip making the hole opening larger in the tunnel. That sucker was spewing smoke real bad when I gave up on it. I was about 90% done when that happened. So I finished it up with my tiny little dremel tool. The B&M Ripper is in but I'll need to find a good boot and floor mount to cover it all back up.

Now for a question. I recall reading somewhere that I may have to do some wire splicing of the lines from the old automatic tranny. I'm not exactly sure what that's all about. I know what plug it was that was attached. Does anyone know what I'm supposed to do here? Is this just for the reverse lights to be activated... or is this some kind of neutral safety switch? Please help... thanks!!

you have to splice the park/neutral safety switch circuit together, otherwise the car will not start.I recommend putting a hidden switch into that circuit when you splice it together, so that if you are away from your car for a few days theives would have a hard time hot wiring it . Every little bit of protection helps. I suppose you could wire it to a switch attached to your clutch so that the car won't start without the clutch pedal pushed in (like a new car), but I figured that I'm not a stupid as the average driver and won't launch the car through a wall trying to start it .Knock on wood.

There are four wires there... any idea which two I'm supposed to splice?

The two red wires with blue stripe are for the NSS. The black wires with red stripe are backup light.

You CAN just hook the red/blue wires to the neutral switch on the TOP of a T5. It will only crank in neutral that way - much easier than rigging a clutch pedal switch.

The black/red wires go to the switch on the SIDE of the T5 case for backup lights to function.

Wires colors

The two Black-red stripe wires are for the backup lights.

The jumper goes between the red-blue stripe wires. It may be different for years other than 1967.

I also recommend a hidden switch in this ciruit, if your not wiring to a clutch switch. A magneticly activated switch mounted behind the dash would be pretty trick.

Just slide a magnet over it to start the car and take the magnet with you when you leave.
