Hey guys- about to swap a C4 to a T5 in a 65/66 Mustang-

Been hearing different things about fitment issues with certain headers when trying to do the swap-

that there are rumors of certain headers getting in the way of the T5 routing of the clutch cable-

Any input on this?

Anyone pointers on doing this swap?

I have never done this before-

In fact size wise how does a C4 and T5 compare?

IS the C4 or the T5 a bigger transmission?

Any input anyone can tell me would be great-

(I tried doing a search, but T5 and C4 are too small for the search engine to register)

I have done it and the Hedman elites run a tube essentially right where the cable is supposed to be running through the bellhousing and then to the clutch fork. Other than that the headers clear the bellhousing with plenty of space. I just pulled the cable off to the side using a little contraption I made but we will see if it holds up.

I used a cable clutch conversion/t5 bellhousing/New trans crossmember/mount. I had to cut down my driveshaft a little but its a pretty easy swap. I originally wasnt running headers so clearance wasnt an issue but now that I am it worries me a bit.

I've done the swap as well and I had no clearance problems with my hooker long tube headers. May have to fab a bracket to keep the cable free of any problems. The tranny sizes are practically identical. The shifter lines up perfectly with no mods. Will need to buy a crossmember, tranny mount, clutch pedal, yoke (if you don't have the donor car) and clutch cable. If you reuse the late model cable you will need an adapter because one is pull and the other push. You will also need to shorten the drive shaft 1/2-3/4". Pretty easy mod and well worth it!

I actually read that you can use the input shaft off the c4 but Im not positive

sweet!!! thanks guys!! I am really excited to dive into this- I dont have a donor car, so I have been putting all the parts together.....I am going to do this 3-4 weeks from now, but just wanted to make sure everything was going in the right direction-

So far it looks like I have all the parts needed.....the header part worried me but after looking at picture of the Elite and pictures of the Hooker long tubes I should be OK......
