C4 transmission ?'s

should i be able to just pull the input shaft out of the tranny while it's sitting there? i got the transmission from someone who said it was built. i have hade the tailshaft housing of and everything was brand new so im not doubting the rebuild but the converter he gave me im can't get the converter to match up with the input shaft splines. the shaft has 26 splines. the converter i was told is a hughes 10 1/2" 3500 stall but it has no #s on it so i can compare anything.

yeah the input shaft will come right out. Just make sure you get it all the way back in.

i cant remember if the C4 has an intermediate shaft or not but*** if it has an intermediate shaft like the AOD it will pull out of the center of the actual input shaft. make sure that stays in the trans when it goes in the car... also as far as the converter goes.. make sure that intermediate shaft is ALL the way inserted into the input shaft THEN install the converter by pushing slightly WHILE slowly turning the converter it should "fall into place"

Thats good that the shaft is capable of sliding out then. but shouldn't i be able to take just the shaft and slide it in the converter?
