What do ya'll think of these?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lot-...017QQitemZ270205934169QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Lot of 3 blocks. 2 have some parts ones complete that had a rod throught the oil pan. I was thinking i could at some point have them all gone over and sell off the 2 I don't use and the parts to fund the project. Not sure though they look kinda rough

Well I can see the 1 is a dove block which is a 70 model,if its a complete shortblock it be worth it. I would soak those cylinders real good though before even attempting to take those 2 blocks apart. You would have a good starting point take the best of the 3, and what you don't need, sell or scrap. You could build on a budget take the best block ,have it hot tanked, and gone through, and stick with the 460 rotating assembly and just upgrade rods and pistons.Sell what you don't need or can't use and use that towards the build.

yeah that was my thoughts. But If I'm gonna do it I'm gonna go full out I think. Would it still be ok to stroke one of them blocks? I might try to get to the local junkyard tomorrow morning and ask them what they got. I was thinking on the way home from work tonight. I feel that if you have a dream build for your car you should push for it mine being the 514. If i build it and later find out that I don't like it for any reason i can always sell the motor and go back to something smaller. This is the theory I'm gonna run with lol

You should be able to stroke 1 of those blocks,as long as you can get the cylinders freed. As for the one that threw the rod,I don't know. Junkyards should have a 460 block, they made em up until 96.A lot of old cars, trucks from 70's-90's, motorhomes, would have them. The 460 was built from 68-96.

got a message a little while ago from the guy that had the block I lost. I guess when the winning bidder went to pick it up he didn't know there were no main caps so he didn't take it. so guy said if I'm still interested I can come get it. I put my sister to work to price some main caps befor I make a final decsion

Yea there is 5, most 429/460 blocks were 2 bolt not 4, but you could have the block drilled and tapped for 4 bolt caps. Here is a ebay link to a cheap set. You could go that route and upgrade with the 4 bolt caps maybe.

Yea he has quite a few 460 parts and pretty reasonable to. Wouldn't you need a rear sump pan though and fox motor mounts?

not yet but prolly will. I told him I wouldn't be able to get it till saturday and if I changed my mind I would let him know. He sent me his cell number so seems like a ok guy to deal with. I bid on that lot of blocks but beings I didn't meet the reserve I didn't win. I'm all excited about this project so I doubt I'll turn him down.

Be ready for some pics on saturday lol

So you gonna paint the block ford color, or same as your car? Gonna make for a fun project, nothing like a big block mustang. I always wanted to see a big block stroker with turbos lol, overkill I'm sure.

it will probably be black. Lime green engine compartment with a lime green block would look a little eh I think. I agree. funny you should say that I have had the crazy idea of a twin turbo 514 . I was actually looking at the lower compression stroker kit so if I ever wanted too I could throw a turbo on it.

Your prolly right though OVER KILL but so is a 514

A big block stroker though with turbos would be sick, the torque alone would be insane.

Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
