My friend is starting a job in CA soon, and has heard some pretty scary things about emissions testing. She's looking to get a new(is) car soon. Are there any (stock) cars that anybody knows about that wouldn't pass emissions? We're talking a late model car here, like 2003 or later.

I doubt it would be a problem, but she wants to hear from some people who actually live there.

CA Cars

Buy the car in CA and usually the owner must get the car smogged before you buy it. It can't be too bad, my 1990 GT with 110,000 passed no problem. Don't buy a car out of state unless it's 50 state legal, the owner should know. Most important all new cars don't get smogged for 6 yrs so don't worry about a new car. I bought a truck in 2002 and haven't smogged it yet.
