I'm considering a CAI/Brenspeed tuner package (C&L, JLT, BBK, others) and I am having difficulty finding online information about the type and brand of filter element that each CAI features. My main concern is not flow, but effective filtration. My '06 has less than 15K on it, and I'm not about to sacrifice longevity for a few HP.

Any information and advice is appreciated.

They all use a K&N type reusable/washable filter. Personally, I recommend the C&L Racer or JLT II for the most gains. They both use said filter type. All you need is a K&N recharge kit to wash and reuse it.

I'm familiar with the K&N oiled filters, I've been using them on many of my vehicles for a long time. There are new variants popping up, never sure what they are. Thanks for the reply, Darkfire

K&N is about the worst filter in independant testing for filteration. It lets a lot of dirt through. I stopped using K&N myself and switched to AEM dryflow filters. They filter verywell and they don't require oil. AEM makes and sells ddryflow cone filters to fit about any intake. They are starting to make stock replacements as well. I use to defend K&N filters tooth and nail over on the ford truck forum untill a member linked me to acuople of test where K&N did so poorly on filtering. They flow well, too well. Aimsoil filters also got high marks for filteration along with AEM.
