I now CAI's doesn't really do much for power but i'm thinking of getting one for looks and to clean up the engine bay a little. I currently have a K&N air filter and i'm wondering would the K&N designed for the stock airbox fit onto a Fenderwell style CAI? The K&N is probably 5-6 months old and i'd hate to buy a CAI and not be able to use my K&N. My plan is to find a cheap used CAI on here, or possibly check EBAY although i'm unsure of fitment quality on those cheap CAI's. Thanks.

If i remember right, i had my stock like K&N filter, and i just bolted the MAF sensor straight to the back of the filter. I think mustangworld.com has a write up on it. I didnt buy a new filter for my CAI i made though....

I can't say anything for something you might buy.

but

When I was running my older ported E7 combo.

I rigged up a home made cai with no bends and maf/filter in the fender.

It made a difference that could be felt :nice:

Even the more so on cool evenings

Grady, do you have any additional information on building a home-made CAI? I've seen writeups on the net, but your setup sounds very nice. Did you buy most of the materials @ home depot? Do you still have part #'s?

I just went to the plumbing section and poked around for stuff that looked liked it would work :D

You use the word "nice" ...More like functional :) ...And ...

Not purty, shiny, blingee, or anything like that :nono:

Search way back, like between 1 to 2 years back and you'll see where I posted a bunch of pics and details :nice:

You also can see a pic or two on my site ;)

Its nothing but a piece of pipe and two rubber connectors. I also bent a little section of strap Aluminum for a mounting bracket.

Good Ole American Hot Rodding at its BEST ........ BABY

Screw Ebay :p

I would just get some silicone elbows and some aluminum tubing and you're set. Polish it up or paint it if u like.
